As if it was not difficult enough to find a new home, jump through all the legal hoops and arrange homeowners insurance, Oklahoma home buyers then face one of the biggest challenges of all: moving day. Moving home is often stressful, and it’s important to be sensitive to the feelings of your family and pets. Remember to be kind to yourself, too; here are some tips that might help.

  • 1. Pace yourself when you’re packing up your belongings in the weeks before moving day. Don’t overdo it by trying to pack too much at once, but don’t leave too much for the last minute, either.
  • 2. Have a box of essentials that you’ll need on moving day, like screwdrivers, scissors, paper and pencil, pet food, drinks and snack bars. Mark this box clearly so that it doesn’t get mixed up with all the other boxes.
  • 3. Make sure that you have some ready cash to pay for things that crop up on moving day. Trying to find a bank or cash machine in your new area is the last thing you want to be doing on that day!

Being prepared for little mishaps, accidents and hitches can save a lot of grief on moving day. Keep a notebook or folder handy where you record contact details of all the folk you might need to call in an emergency, including your phone company, the provider of your homeowners insurance in Oklahoma, utility service companies, and of course the moving company. We hope there will be no need to call these numbers, but it’s best to be prepared. Good luck with your Oklahoma move!
