We are enjoying longer days and warm, star-light nights or hope to as we move into summer!  It’s time to start getting ready for Memorial Day and all the summer fun ahead.

Besides decorating your home, planning the menu for the cook outs, pool parties and buying enough sunscreen to keep everyone from turning into lobsters there are a few things to look at around your home.

Be sure to:

1.)    Inspect all outdoor furniture for wear and weak spots to make sure the winter weather didn’t make it unsafe.

2.)    Check you patio and deck for safety hazards like loose nails, wobbly boards or loose railings.

3.)    Check any swings, playhouses or play areas for insect homes (wasp nests, bee hives, etc) and make sure the play equipment is in good condition and safe for the little ones to enjoy all summer.

4.)    Check gates, doors and windows to make sure locks are in top operating condition and seals are tight to prevent air loss and insects getting in through holes in screens or gaps.

5.)    Check your outdoor grill to make sure it is clean, free of bird nests and ready to fire up the fun!
